Tips Via Toast Scan to Pay Background
As of May 2024, we're excited to announce a new feature within our scan-to-pay service that allows guests to add a tip before scanning their QR code. Previously, guests could only add a tip once they had completed the scanning process and were on the point of sale (POS). This new feature directly addresses a common request from our users, streamlining the payment process and giving guests greater control over their experience. By adding a tip via the app during the QR code scanning process, guests can rest assured that the tip will be transferred to the POS accurately.
Guests can now add a tip directly through the app while scanning their QR code, providing a more streamlined and convenient payment experience. Users can enjoy an even smoother payment process by adding a tip before processing the transaction on the point of sale (POS) system.
Tips Via Toast Scan to Pay Limitations
Dynamically calculated tipping recommendations based on bill amount is not part of this Feature.

To Turn on Tips for Scan-To-Pay, head over to the Lunchbox Admin Dashboard > Design > Mobile Apps> Display Options > Display Instore Tips
Disabling Tips in Toast POS
In the Toast Dashboard - Navigate to 'Other Payments' > select the payment option that is set for the 'Toast Tender' service and make sure 'Tips Enabled' is set to NO
Turning the tips setting off will disable the tip selection on the POS guest display that only allows the guest to add a tip on the app.
