Overview
This article explains how to set up delivery for a location in LB 2.0 by defining where delivery is available (using a map zone or distance radius) and configuring Delivery Rules that control eligibility, minimum order amounts, and delivery fees. It also outlines how to manage existing rules (create, edit, delete) and provides common configuration examples, including per-mile pricing and time-based adjustments.
Delivery zone setup
On the Delivery Tab, you can set your delivery zone and set delivery rules for each of your locations.
To access Delivery, select Operate> Delivery and select a location. After we select a location, we'll be able to see it on the map.
See Delivery Map
From the map view, we can add a delivery zone, test to see if an address falls inside of the zone, save, and reset if you need to start over.
Delivery Rules
Delivery Rules show all created rules for the selected location. From here, we can edit or delete an Existing Rule or add a New Rule.
Add or Edit Delivery Rules
To add a new delivery rule,
Step 1: Select Add New Rule to create a new delivery rule.
Step 2: Give the Delivery Rule a Name
Step 3: Select the Distance Rules. Choose one of the options:
If zone is: we need to add the Zone name, and it relies on the zone drawn on the map, not necessarily surrounding the location (not common).
If address is in the zone: a delivery rule that applies to addresses in the drawn map
If distance is less then: this is a radius rule that will be defined by the distance diameter from the location in miles
Delivery Rule example
In the following section, we are going to showcase how to set up a distance-based delivery rule.
Step 1: After selecting the + Add New Rule button, the pop-up will open. Enter the name of the rule.
Step 2: Under the IF drop-down, select "If Distance is less than"
Step 3: Enter the diameter distance in miles that this location will deliver to. Distance Rules do not need a map drawn for the location.
Step 4: Enter the Min Order Total Amount. This is how much a guest must spend before they can check out for a delivery order.
Step 5: Enter the Delivery Charge Amount. This is where you can set a flat delivery, additional % and an additional Per Mile Dollar Amount. All fields must be entered, even if it is 0.
When adding $ this will charge the same flat fee no matter the distance to the location.
Example: $5 fee will charge $5 for a 2 mile order and a 5 mile order
When adding additional % this field will calculate the additional percentage amount off of the order total.
Example: 10% of an order placed that is $10 will charge an additional $1
When adding an additional Per Mile ($) this amount will add to the previously configured fixed Delivery Charge as well as the %. The additional Per Mile ($) will add the full fee for the first mile and every mile after that will be added by the penny from the restaurant to the greatest distance that the delivery can be delivered.
Example: Base Delivery fee $2 with a configured additional $5 Per Mile ($)
Quarter Mile will charge an additional $5 + $2 base delivery fee = $7
Half a Mile will charge an additional $5 + $2 base delivery fee = $7
1 Mile will charge an additional $5 + $2 base delivery fee = $7
1.5 Miles will charge and additional $7.50 + $2 base delivery fee = $9.50
Step 6: Select Limit by service type (optional). We can choose to make a delivery rule for internal use only, which is great for Admins who need to transfer Held orders (like for catering delivery). We can also select if this delivery rule is specific to a delivery service type (standard or catering).
Step 7: Once you've reviewed your Rule Parameters in full, click Save.
Step 8: New Delivery Rule Created On the main Delivery page, you'll see your new Delivery Rule created.
Edit or Delete Delivery Rules
To edit a Delivery Rule, click on the Pencil icon. This will open up the Delivery Rule parameters for edits.
To delete a Delivery Rule, click on the Trash icon
Confirm the deletion of the Delivery Rule by selecting Yes
We will see a notification on the top right showing that the Delivery Rule has been Successfully Deleted. We will also see it removed from the list of Delivery Rules.
Troubleshooting: “Order does not meet minimum” for Catering Delivery quotes (non-admin guests)
If non-admin guests see an “order does not meet minimum” error when checking out a Catering Delivery quote, confirm that every active Delivery Rule that should apply includes Catering Delivery in its service type selection. If a rule is missing Catering Delivery, the system may not find a valid rule match for that quote at checkout, which can surface as a minimum-order error even when the configured minimum is met.
Delivery Configuration Examples
Here are the configuration options and examples:
Additional Dollar Amount Within a Distance From the Restaurant by Penny
If you want to charge an additional amount within a particular distance from the restaurant that adds per penny based on the distance, this can be configured using the Else portion of a Single Delivery Rule and can be configured by percent or dollar amount.
Additional $ Amount Per Mile
If you want to charge an additional flat dollar amount within a distance from the restaurant this can be configured by adding multiple flat rate rules and using the if distance is less than Rule or if distance is in zone rule and incrementally increase the the delivery fee amount and the distance by whole miles.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is very important that when building rules that they are built in sequence from lowest charge to highest charge. When implementing this fee structure we recommend removing the previous rules and building from scratch.
Example:
Build the Rule 1st - Native Delivery (Up to 4 Miles) - set 4 miles & Delivery charge 5.99
Build the Rule 2nd - Native Delivery (4 to 5 Miles) - set 5 miles & Delivery charge 6.99
Build the Rule 3rd - Native Delivery (5 to 6 Miles) - set 6 miles & Delivery charge 7.99
This is a setup for an additional dollar within a delivery map.
This is an example setup for an additional dollar within a mile radius.
Adding Timeslots to Delivery Rules
If you want to add additional adjustments to the Delivery Rule based off of a certain time or date this can be completed by setting up timeslots on the delivery rule for the updated rate. This will need to be configured Rule bu Rule using Old Admin.
