Phone Verification Feature

Phone Verification is a security method that is used by Lunchbox to verify the possible pre-existence of a guest's account. To ensure that the guest's phone number isn't associated with another email address, Lunchbox verifies the email address through the Phone Verification process.

NOTE: Lunchbox doesn't support VoIP numbers; platforms such as Google Voice and others are not workarounds for the phone verification process.

Feature Content

Phone Verification Process (Web)

Step 1: When a guest is going through the ordering process, they initially sign up using their email address. The following fields are required to sign up (as shown in the screenshot below):

  • First Name: The guest's first name is input in this field.

  • Last Name: The guest's last name is input in this field.

  • Email: The guest's email address is input in this field.

  • Phone: The guest's phone number is input in this field, which is used for additional verification needs and is directly associated with the guest's email address.

  • Password: The guest's password is input in this field.

Step 2: After signup, a prompt on the next screen will indicate that a Verification Code has been sent via text to the guest's phone.

Step 3: A Verification Code is sent to the guest via text message, which is done as a validation method to disallow them from creating a new account with the same phone number (e.g., in order to take advantage of promo codes and so on).

Step 4: The Verification Code is then input into the provided Code field. This process will use the phone number to validate the information that was initially filled up during the initial signup process.

NOTE: If the phone number that is input is already associated with an existing account, a warning message will appear to notify the guest. Additionally, Lunchbox does not allow the same phone number to be used with more than one email address.

Step 5: Once the code is confirmed, their information is validated and the guest is able to select a location to place their order.

Phone Verification Process (App)

Step 1: Sign in to the app by inputting your email address, then select the Log In button at the bottom of the app screen.

Phone Verification in Guest Profile

Step 1: In the Lunchbox Admin Dashboard, when viewing a guest's account details, there is a Phone Verification slider that shows whether or not the email has been validated with the phone number. If the slider is active, it indicates that validation has been performed.

FAQ

Why can't a guest sign in or log in to their account with their email address?

  • The guest is already signed up for a Lunchbox account with a different email that they verified their phone with. Ask the guest for their Name or Phone Number to search the guest's profile, which will allow you to provide them with the email address that they initially signed up with.
