Overview
The Lunchbox to Toast integration uses Toast open items to send specific Lunchbox values onto the Toast kitchen receipt, KDS, or customer receipt. Each open item is dedicated to a single value type, and the Toast configuration steps are the same regardless of which use case is being set up.
Supported Toast open-item use cases
Order-level notes
Purpose: pass order-level customer comments to the Toast KDS, kitchen tickets, and customer receipt.
Value passed: the order note text entered by the guest at checkout. Item name to create in Toast: LB Customer Order Note.
DoorDash Drive estimated driver arrival time
Purpose: print the estimated driver arrival time on the kitchen receipt so the kitchen can pace delivery prep against driver pickup.
Value passed: the estimated driver arrival time returned by DoorDash Drive. Item name to create in Toast: Estimated Delivery Driver Arrival Time.
Curbside check-in print notification
Purpose: print a notification on the configured Toast printer when a guest checks in for curbside pickup, so the kitchen or front of the house staff can see the arrival.
Value passed: the order ID and the vehicle details captured at check-in. The full string prints on the receipt. Example: Order #18688 - Black Honda Civic, 4. Item name to create in Toast: CURBSIDE ARRIVAL. The item name prints on the receipt, so a clearly recognizable label is recommended.
Dependency: curbside check-in must already be enabled on the Lunchbox 2.0 dashboard.
