WARNING: Before proceeding, it is important to note that if a restaurant partner works with loyalty tiers, that is an individual Birthday Perk.

Setting Up The Birthday Perk

Talk to your onboarding team to make sure this feature is ready for you to configure.

Step 1: Sign in to your Adm Dashboard and Switch to Old Admin

Step 2: Click on the Loyalty Admin page

Step 3: Go to Perks.

Step 4: Click Add New Perks and fill out the following information…

Perk Name: Name the Perk

Perk Description: Describe the Perk

Perk Type: Birthday

Perk Reward: The Reward drop-down components come from the Rewards tab

The following reward types are supported with Birthday Rewards…

  • Credits

  • Reward Coupon

  • Points

Perk Requirements - Tier: Can only assign one tier in this field for Birthday Reward. If the loyalty program has multiple tiers, separate birthday perks should be configured per tier.

Step 5: Click Add New Perk to create the perk.

Note: There can only be one Birthday Perk active at a time.

Birthday Event Types

Important: A Merchant can only have one Birthday Event Type in their account.

Each event type starts at 12:00 AM ET

Beginning Of The Month: The guest is awarded their birthday reward on the 1st of the month of their birthday.

  • ie. Their birthday is on June 27th; they receive their birthday reward on June 1st.

Beginning Of The Week: The guest receives their birthday reward on the Sunday that starts their birth week.

  • ie. If their birthday is Feb 23rd, 2023, then they will receive their reward on Sunday, Feb 19th, 2022

Beginning Of The Day: The guest will receive their birthday reward at 12:00 a.m. ET on their birthday.

This process requires editing the database. Please talk to your account manager to set this up.

Birthday Perk FAQ

1. What happens when a new user sets their birthday for the next day?

It depends on the type of birthday event. A new user would not receive any birthday rewards if it was at the Beginning Of The Month. A new user will only get their birthday reward for the Beginning Of The Week if their birthday is set for the following week. Users will only receive their reward on the day of their birthday if the Birthday Event Type is set for the Beginning Of The Day.

2. Is it possible to get additional birthday rewards if the user gains the birthday reward, deletes their account, and then creates a new account with the same email?

No, Lunchbox 2.0 will email the account to the same user loyalty account.
