Guest Experience
Buying a Gift Card
To purchase a Valutec gift card, guests will be brought to the restaurant's gift card website that is provided by Valutec and lives outside of Lunchbox platforms
There is a 3-5% processing fee for gift card purchases. Restaurant Partners have the option to pass the fee on to guests.
Using a Gift Card
Gift card numbers and pin codes cannot be saved on a guest’s Lunchbox profile. They must provide both sets of information with each order.
Guests do not earn loyalty points for purchasing a gift card. They do earn loyalty points when an order is paid partially or fully with a gift card balance
Checking & Reloading Balance
To check or reload their gift card balance, guests will be brought to the restaurant's gift card website that is provided by Valutec and lives outside of Lunchbox platforms

Reporting
For reporting on purchases made with Valutec gift cards, the restaurant partner should rely on the Valutec Merchant Portal
For reporting capabilities available on the Valutec Merchant Portal, please refer to page 11 of the Valutec Merchant Portal User Guide.
The reporting on the Lunchbox Admin Dashboard will only show online transactions made with gift cards
Valutec Merchant Portal will be the home for all gift card reconciliation, usage information, and more
Refund & Voiding Orders with Gift Cards
The refunded amount will be automatically added back to the patron's gift card balance
If a refund is requested for an order with multiple payment methods, the refund order will be: loyalty, gift card, then credit card
Managing Physical Gift Cards
In-Store Sale of Physical Gift Cards
NOTE: The exact steps may vary by POS and will be shared by the Valutec team during Valutec Onboarding
To load a gift card, the employee would typically:
Select the gift card sale or activation button on the POS
Swipe the credit/debit card to take the payment
Swipe the gift card to load funds to the card
Ordering Physical Gift Cards
To order more physical gift cards, the restaurant partner can reach out to their Valutec sales representative
Custom gift cards cost ~$1.50 per card or less. The minimum purchase amount is 250 gift cards, and the per card cost decreases if the restaurant partner purchases more.
Guest Experience
Buying a Gift Card
Go to the “Account” page and click on the “Gift Cards” menu button
Click on the “Buy a Gift Card” button. This will bring you to the restaurant’s gift card website that lives outside of Lunchbox ordering platforms
If you are buying a gift card on the iOS or Android app, an in-app browser window will pop up
On the gift card website, click on the “Buy” button under the eGift Cards or Physical Gift Card banners

You will be brought to a page where you can provide the gift card details
If buying a physical gift card, you will be asked to choose or specify:

Once you are done filling out the details, click on the “Add Another Gift” button to buy more gift cards before checking out or the “Confirm & Checkout” button if you wish to check out
On the check-out page, review the gift card details and click on the “Confirm & Checkout” button when you are ready to check out
If you want to remove a gift card or edit any of the gift card details, click on the “Delete” or “Edit” button next to the applicable gift card
If you want to add another gift card to the order, click on the “Add Another Gift” button
On the payments page, enter the payment details and click on the “Confirm & Submit” Button
Using a Gift Card
On the cart page, enter the gift card number and pin code (if applicable) in the
Gift Card
andPin Code
fields
NOTE: Guests cannot save the gift card number or pin code on their Lunchbox profile.
Once the gift card information has been added to the order, you will see a pop-up message confirming that the gift card has been successfully applied. If there was an error, an error message will appear to let you know which field should be modified.
On web, after the gift card has been applied to the order, the guest will see the remaining balance in the “Gift Card” field.
NOTE: Currently, there is no option for the guest to specify how much of the gift card balance they want to apply to the order. If the order total is greater than the gift card balance, the entirety of the gift card balance will be applied. If the gift card balance is greater than the order total, the entire order will be paid with the gift card.
Fill out the remaining fields and click on the “Place Order” button
NOTE: Guests do not earn loyalty points for buying a gift card, but they do earn points for orders paid in full or in part with a gift card
Checking Gift Card Balance
Go to the “Account” page and click on the “Gift Cards” menu button
Click on the “Check Balance of Gift Card” button. This will bring you to the restaurant’s gift card website that lives outside of Lunchbox ordering platforms
If you are on the iOS or Android app, an in-app browser window will pop up
On the gift card website, click on the “Check Gift Card Balance” button
NOTE: This website is built by the Valutec team during Valutec Onboarding
Enter the Gift Card Number and the CAPTCHA code. Then click on “Check Balance”
NOTE: If a guest has misplaced the gift card number, they must reach out to the restaurant to recover the information, which can be retrieved from the Valutec Merchant Portal
If the gift card has a pin code, enter the pin code in the “Gift Card Security Code” section when prompted
NOTE: If a guest has misplaced the pin code, they must reach out to the restaurant to recover the information, which can be retrieved from the Valutec Merchant Portal
You will be brought to a page where you can see the current balance and review previous transactions made with the gift card
You also have an option to create an account to check the balance without entering the gift card information in the future
Reloading Gift Card Balance
Go to the “Account” page and click on the “Gift Cards” menu button
Click on the “Reload Gift Card” button. This will bring you to the restaurant’s gift card website that lives outside of Lunchbox ordering platforms
If you are on the iOS or Android app, an in-app browser window will pop up
On the gift card website, click on the “Reload” button

Enter the Gift Card Number and the CAPTCHA code. Then click on “Continue”
NOTE: If a guest has misplaced the gift card number, they must reach out to the restaurant to recover the information, which can be retrieved from the Valutec Merchant Portal
If the gift card has a pin code, enter the pin code in the “Gift Card Security Code” section when prompted. Then click on the “Validate” button.

On the next screen, specify the amount you want to add to the existing gift card balance and click on the “Checkout” button
You will then be brought to the check-out page. Review the reload information and click on the “Confirm & Checkout” button
If you wish to edit the reload details, click on the “Edit” button
On the payment page, enter the payment information and click on the “Confirm & Submit” button
