      • When displaying an image on the CDS, use 100 x 100. When displaying an image on the POS with the description, 500 x 500 is best.

      • When displaying a size chart, the ideal size is 500 x 400 or smaller to ensure readability and loading reliability.

    • Safety Area

      • Size: 384 x 384 px

      • File: N/A

      • Note: Will generally be visible to users across different browser window sizes; this is because we can't predict with 100% certainty, given the browser window size is under the user's control.

Best Practices

  • Images are used across platforms. It’ll be best to keep Menu Items centered in the image and with enough padding to allow the appropriate cropping across products.

Once an image is uploaded, it will be live on the App and Web experience. It is best practice to preview the images after uploading to confirm that the sizing and resolution are displaying as intended.

Check if the images are the correct size before uploading them

On a PC (Windows 10):

Note: system dialogs may vary slightly across different operating systems.

Open Windows Explorer and find the image you want to check. The dimensions and file size appear in the right-hand details pane.

If you do not see this, click the View ribbon tab and then Details Pane:

You can also right-click on an image & choose properties from the drop-down menu.
A new window will appear with several tabs. You'll click the details tab, and there you'll find your image size and dimensions.

On a Mac:

You can right-click on the image file and choose "get info" from the dropdown menu.

Alternatively, when viewing files, you can find the file size and dimension info in the column or gallery view (at the top of the file window).

If your image is too large:

If you find your image too large, you can use image editing software, like Adobe Photoshop, if you have it, or your default image editor — like MSPaint for Windows or Preview for Mac — to resize or crop the image before you upload it. There are also several free image editing tools online. Just google "resize an image" or "crop an image."

FAQ

  • What is the preferred size and dimension of the images to be uploaded?

    • Menu Item images preferably should be below 200kb in size and have dimensions of 889 x 500px (16:9 ratio). It is also ideal for it to be in landscape positioning. Modifier images preferably should have dimensions of 500 x 500px (1:1 ratio), also having the size of around 150kb. If an uploaded image is too large, it can cause lag and noticeably disrupt the guest experience.

  • What POS can you import images from?

    • Toast and Deliverect are currently the only confirmed POS you can import images from, but it only happens on the initial sync of the menu.

    • If the images were already on the Admin Dashboard before they uploaded the photos on POS, they won't sync anymore, and they would need to be uploaded on the Admin Dashboard directly.
