Adding Items to New Categories in Lunchbox for Square
Since categories are also leveraged for reporting purposes, sometimes a Square partner may need to import an item into a different category than they wish to have displayed during the ordering journey. (Example: Salad imported into a Salad Category but they want this salad to display in the Entrees Category) To achieve this a few extra steps have to occur in Lunchbox. Once the items have been added to Square and saved and successfully imported into Lunchbox the following steps should be taken to add it to the new category.
Step 1: Navigate to the Lunchbox Dashboard
Step 2: Click the Menus Tab.
Step 3: Click the plus sign next to the Menu and Original Category where the menu item will automatically import to ensure the new item is in the menu and note the item number. In this example 880
Step 4: Click the plus sign next to the New Category where you want to add the item, then click the drop-down in the New Item Field.
Step 5: Type the name of the item you want to add (Use the number below the item name to match it to the item you are looking to move. In this example, the item number 880 matches the number of the item in its imported category.)
Step 6: Select the item and click Enter to add it to the new category.
Step 7: Click Inactive
Step 8: Click the Green Dollar Sign.
Step 9: Add the following...
Price: 0
Min Qty: 1
Enabled: True = blue checkbox
Step 10: Then click the Blue Save Button
Step 11: Next, check the menu on the front-end website by starting an order from an incognito browser.
