Overview
The Social Media / External Links feature lets restaurants add and manage custom links, like social pages, FAQs, or surveys, directly from the Admin Dashboard. Links appear in the Account section of the app and web ordering, giving guests quick access to key resources without needing engineering support. Currently, Lunchbox supports the following social links/ icons:
Facebook
Instagram
TikTok
Twitter (X)
Yelp
Pinterest
Snapchat
YouTube
LinkedIn
Prerequisites & Dependencies
Clients should have a live app that will allow displaying the chosen links.
Clients should have up-and-running social media channels that could be promoted on their ordering site or app
Step-by-Step Configuration
To set up social media links for the mobile apps (iOS and Android), log in to the client's Admin dashboard, and
Select Design on the left
Select Mobile apps
Select Social Links
Select + Add New button
An option to add a new Social media link will appear. Select the Name drop-down to choose an available social media platform
Next, enter the URL for the channel
Select the Save button
Here's how the social links look when set. In this example, we can see that Bareburger introduced two social media links, for Facebook and Instagram, and when you open and log in the app, users can see and select social media icons.
If they select the icons, they will be navigated to the preset URL for the selected social media icon.
Limitations
Social media links appear as icons in the ordering apps but are only visible to users who are signed into their accounts. These links are displayed in the Account tab and are not accessible to guests browsing without logging in.
There may be a display limitation on the Account page where not all icons for the preset social media links appear. While clients can upload up to 9 social media links, smaller screens may not have enough space to display all icons. This behavior was identified during testing, and the engineering team confirmed that the system is designed to show all icons whenever possible, but due to screen size constraints, some icons may not appear on certain devices.
