Determine Menu Data Source
The NCR integration in Lunchbox supports two different data sources from BSL. Data can be stored in either Marketplace Catalog or an AO Menu and a determination will need to be made with your Lunchbox Rep on which to use, but AO Menu is preferred.
Menu Images
Images cannot be imported to Lunchbox from Aloha, so they will need to be uploaded in Lunchbox once the menu is imported.

Business Service Platform: Menu Service Setup
When using Menu service, the data source consists of data pulled from the Aloha Online menu and pairs the data with real-time pricing data pulled from the Catalog service. Before using Menu V1, it is a requirement to build a menu using Menu Configurator and configure the enterprise unit for each site as well as the organization for the company.
BSL Setup - Partner requesting Customer menu access
1. Customer/partner must exist
2. Customer must have a Site created in Site service (you will need this ID to link with an AOO site)
3. Partner must have technical user with access keys
4. An external account for the Partner's technical user must be created under the Customer's organization
5. The external Partner account must be assigned the MENU_VIEWER role
Option A (PREFERRED) Aloha Online Setup
Menu Data through AO Setup
The menu will be used by Lunchbox to pass directly to the customer, so, this menu needs to be customer facing. Some modifier groups, for example, would not make sense when ordering directly from Lunchbox. An example of this would be a modifier group that has seats numbers. You will also need to use the How-To Setup Menu Configuration for Menu Service Document to give BSL access to the menu data built in AO. You may need your NCR resource to assist with this setup, which could involve labor dollars.
Note: If your site does not have AO, a Menu Provisioning request will need to be made. An email that contains the below information will need to be sent to :[email protected]
Site name:
Master Store Key:
List of AO admins:
POS DB file (ONLY in case the key is offline)
Mapping BSL Enterprise Unit to Aloha Online Site
BSL Menu V1 uses the Aloha Online API to provide Menu Data. This means that to integrate with BSL Menu V1 you must be setup in the Aloha Online Service.
Note: Aloha Online menu setup is a Menu V1 requirement, it will not be required with Menu V2
Step 1: Login to Aloha Online with provided credentials.
Step 2: Go to Configuration -> Site Setup -> Sites
Step 3: Click Edit Site
Step 4: Click Submission Details
Step 5: Paste BSL Enterprise Unit under Enterprise Unit box (last setting)
Step 6: Click Update
Option B (NOT PREFERRED) Configuring Catalog Integration in CFC
Marketplace Catalog Setup
Marketplace Catalog Setup Checklist
For Lunchbox to access your menu data through Marketplace Catalog, please configure based on Aloha’s Catalog Activation Document:
Flag catalog items as ‘Available for online’ in CFC (as described in Aloha’s Catalog Activation Document)
Refresh site or perform an EOD in order to see data pushed to catalog
About Catalog
Catalog is one of several services provided by the NCR Business Services Platform and allows you to provide menu data to external partners, such as delivery aggregation services. You must use Aloha Configuration Center v20.11 or later (CFC) to take advantage of this service, and you must log in to CFC as a Global User to perform the steps in this document.
Enabling Export for the Catalog Platform
To allow the system to send data to Catalog, you must enable
exporting to the catalog which allows the system to identify
the data to export.
To enable export for the Catalog platform:
1. Launch Aloha Configuration Center and log in as a Global User.
2. Select Maintenance > Business > Store > Store Settings tab.
3. Select the System group at the bottom of the Store Settings tab.
4. Under the ‘Platform Export’ group bar, select Export to Platform - Catalog to expose ‘Revenue center available for online.’
5. Accept None as the default revenue center to allow all item data to export to the Catalog. In this context, None = no restrictions to a specific revenue center.
-OR-
Click the drop-down arrow and select a specific revenue center, to limit the export to items in a price change record associated with the selected revenue center in a
price change event in Event Scheduler.
The export contains all items with ‘Available for online’ selected, in Maintenance > Menu > Items tab under the ‘Catalog’ group bar.
6. Click Save and Close to exit the Store function.
Publishing Items to the Catalog
In Items, you define which items to publish to the catalog and you set related values, such as ‘Online Name,’ ‘Online Description,’ and ‘Link to online image.’
You use one of two methods to determine which items to publish to the catalog. You can configure each item individually, or you can use a grid view to configure one or more items at a time.
To publish an individual item to the catalog:
1. Select Maintenance > Menu > Items > Items tab.
2. Under the ‘Catalog’ group bar, select Available for online to expose the remaining options that publish the item to the catalog.
3. Accept the default Online name for the item, or type a new name to change it. ‘Online name’ defaults to the long name of the item unless changed here.
4. Type an optional item description to appear online.
5. Type an optional URL for the online image to associate with this menu item.
To publish multiple items to the catalog:
1. Select Maintenance > Menu > Items and click the grid view icon to the right of the selected item name.
The grid view appears listing all items according to the fil ters you set. For example, you will most likely not put liquor or beer in the catalog, so filter the ‘Sales/retail category’ column to list only items from categories you will publish, such as the FOOD category. We recommend you anchor the following columns to the left side of the screen for viewing ease: ‘Number,’ ‘Long name,’ ‘Sales/retail category,’ ‘Available for online,’ ‘Online name,’ ‘Online description,’ and ‘Link to online image.’
2. Select Available for online for each item to publish to the catalog.
3. Update the online name, if desired.
4. Add or update an online description, if desired.
5. Add or update an image URL, if desired.
6. Click Save to save all changes at the same time.
7. Click Close to exit the Items function.
Changing Modifier Group Names for Online Use
In addition to assigning items to the online catalog, you have the option to customize the online name for modifier groups. The system defaults to the long name unless you change it here.
To customize modifier group names for online use:
1. Select Maintenance > Menu > Modifier Groups > Modifier tab.
2. Select the Modifier Group to customize.
3. Under the ‘Catalog’ group bar, type the name for online
use in ‘Online name.’
Even when you publish a modifier group to the catalog,
the items in the modifier group do not appear online
unless you also publish the individual modifier item. This
allows you to restrict which modifier items to make avail-
able for online orders.
4. Repeat step 2 and step 3 for each modifier group, as
needed.
5. Click Save and Close to exit the Modifier Groups function.
Tips and Tricks
Some modifiers do not transport well in delivery orders, and you may choose to exclude them from online ordering. For example: Your in-store menu includes a Hamburger with two modifier groups, ‘Cheese’ and ‘Sides.’ The Sides modifier group includes Fries, Cheese Fries, and Chips. Because Cheese Fries do not travel well, you can select Cheese Fries in Maintenance > Menu > Items, and clear Available for online under the ‘Catalog’ group bar on the Items tab. The Cheese Fries modifier then remains available for in-store orders, but unavailable for online delivery orders.
Provide Access Credentials to Lunchbox
Once the Catalog or Menu Setup has been completed, let your Lunchbox Implementation Project Manager know and please provide the below credentials in order for Lunchbox to pull menu and place orders:
Nep-org
Enterprise Unit #
Menu ID #
These details should be added to your configuration workbook for all Net New Chains as well as any new location onboarding
